Happy St. Patrick's Day all ye blog readers! I hope you are wearing green (otherwise - consider yourself virtually pinched!).
A St. Patrick's Day AutoCAD Tip on Copying Layers from One Drawing to Another:
Have you ever started working on a new drawing and wished you could just quickly copy all of the layers from another drawing into it? Well it is super easy to do with the INSERT command.
Just go into the INSERT command and select the "browse" button to find the drawing that has all the nifty layers you'd like to have in your current drawing. Make sure you have the "specify on-screen" box selected for insertion point. Exit the dialog box and DON'T select an insertion point - hit the Escape key instead. No objects will be inserted but all of those great layers will be!
Note: If you happen to have an existing layer in your drawing with the same name - the existing layer will win.
Give it a try and you'll find yourself saving some valuable time! Tonight I might just need to visit the local Irish pub and ordering up a pint of Guinness!
