And AU is Off and Running!

Wow...the energy is already looming around the halls of the convention center as everyone is starting to trickle into AU.  I arrived on Saturday, had rehearsals most of yesterday and presented at the ATC conference today...so I'm definitely off and running!  The Venetian is such a nice hotel - and I certainly don't miss the mile long walk to the convention center from the MGM hotel!  In 5 minutes I can be at the conference...it's a beautiful thing!

So I have a deal to make with you guys...the first 10 people who come up to me at AU and ask me "how Tiffany is" will get an autographed Autodesk hat!  Now I have to be carrying my red computer bag with me or I won't have the hats - so don't bother trying to get a hat out of me if I don't have my red computer bag - okay?  And I only brought 10 hats with me so it's first come first serve...

Tiffany tried to sneak into my AU suitcase while I was packing and go along for the ride - she even fell asleep in it...too cute!  (break my heart)...

Sorry Tiffany...Autodesk University isn't really for puppies!

An AutoCAD Hip Tip on Cool Calculations:

AutoCAD Veterans know all about the CAL shortcuts such as MEE and DEE but now you can perform these nifty functions inside of the Quick Calculator.  The Variable section of QuickCalc has some very cool, handy dandy functions that will save you time!  The box below, displays the existing functions included in QuickCalc.

Here's how they work.  Let's say we want to quickly find the distance between two endpoints!  Select DEE from the variable section of the QuickCalc command.  Select the small calculator icon to add the variable to the calculator input box (see below)

Hit an enter to execute the function and then AutoCAD will prompt you to select the two endpoints (the object snap will appear automatically for you...cool...)and then the Quick Calc will return the value of the distance.  Voila!

Note:  There's an icon on the palette that deletes variables - don't hit that by accident  (like I did)- I haven't been able to figure out how to get the variable back!  Ouch!  I'd hate to have to reprogram it - (there should be a way to put it back to it's default state...)

Give these cool functions a try - you might just save yourself some valuable time!
