Cleveland was fabulous! The crowd was great (packed room) and the reception for AutoCAD 2007 was fantastic! Though it was my first official AutoCAD 2007 presentation I think it went pretty well...no one can resist the outstanding new 3D features.
So here are a few more AutoCAD 2007 features to share with you...
Dynamic Input is more forgiving:
If you enter an unacceptable value as input, the value automatically highlights and enables you to reenter the value (as opposed to calling you names and kicking you out)
Tucking your Palettes out of the way (but keeping them at your fingertips)
AutoCAD 2007 makes it easy for you to attach your palettes to an anchor tab base on the left or right side of the drawing area. The palette rolls open and closed as the cursor moves across it, keeping them out of the way but available for quick access. Simply right click on the name bar and select Anchor left or Anchor right from the shortcut menu. You can also stack your anchored palettes thus allowing several palettes on each side (for you power users). When you roll your mouse over one of the palettes it rolls out to the full height of the screen (very cool!)
Underlaying DWF files
Autodesk promotes the awesome DWF file format, and yet we haven't been able to bring DWF files into AutoCAD - what's up with that? Not true anymore with AutoCAD 2007. The new DWFATTACH command allows you to underlay a DWF file (similar to raster images). The DWF is linked and not physically embedded into the drawing file (thus keeping the file size down).
Attached DWF files can be snapped to like standard objects. All layers from the DWF file are flattened into a single layer, the physical underlay is placed on the current layer.
So there you have a few more cool features from AutoCAD 2007 (and I haven't even touched on the 3D features yet!) Are you getting excited about the next release yet?
