I admit it...every day when I get my email from TenLinks I quickly span it in search of a reference to my blog. I'm like a kid...I rush past all the other good nuggets of industry news in search of my name...wondering if today is going to be the day or not! Will my Hip Tip be worthy of Tenlinks? It's just not pretty...a mention in Tenlinks can make my entire day!
So here's my Hip Tip to start off the week (will it be worthy?):
Customizing the size and colors of the User Interface:
I receive so many emails asking how I changed my UI to the extra large menu fonts, and the black text on a yellow background. While it should be noted that I only do this because someone from Microsoft convinced me that those colors were the easiest for an audience to see - apparently some of you are interested in customizing your UI as well. So here are the steps: (Note: this Tip will affect more than just AutoCAD).
Right click on your desktop and select Properties from the shortcut menu. Go to the Appearance tab as seen below.
If you want to take the easy way out - you can simply select Large or Extra large from the Font size drop down list...this will magnify all your text. If you want to take it a step further - select the Advanced button and customize the individual sections of the UI piece by piece. This is also where you can change the various colors of the UI as seen below.
The ToolTip size also affects the size of the text on your Tool Palettes (fyi).
Be sure to hit "OK" and Apply all of your changes. You may have to check it out in AutoCAD several times before you get it just right.
It's that simple!
