Happy Halloween everyone...Boo! Unfortunatelyfor me, I am another day older today (but I'm in denial). I'm actually off to England for a presentation at the Autodesk UK User Conference so I get to spend my birthday on a plane...not exactly the birthday extravaganza I had in mind. I did plead my case to United Airlines and out of the kindness of their hearts they upgraded me for my birthday - so it could be MUCH worse! At least I don't have to pay for my birthday toast...
And as a special Halloween treat - here is a picture of my Bichon Frise dog Misty dressed up as an angel (definitely a costume).
So here is your scary Halloween AutoCAD Hip Tip to reset dimensions back to their actual value:
Sometimes we work with CAD operators who prefer to "fudge" the dimension text value rather than just create the drawing the correct size to begin with (bad, very bad!). But when you take a look at an AutoCAD drawing there is no way to tell which dimensions are accurate, and which ones are not. If you find yourself in doubt - there is a wonderful Express Tool that can check your drawing for you, and even reset the dimension text to it's actual value.
From the Express Tool menu select Dimension=>Reset Dim Text Value. This will execute the DIMREASSOC command (which you may prefer to key in manually). Simply select all the dimensions in question and AutoCAD will highlight the offenders! You can also key in the word "All" to select all of the dimensions. An additional enter will return the dimensions to their actual value...then you can go have a friendly chat with the renegade designer!
Don't be an offender here...if you get an incorrect dimension value - change the drawing not the dimension text!
So enjoy a great Halloween and be mindful of Trick-or-Treaters today! Boo!
