I have been a seriously bad blogger this past week - so sorry! My excuse will be the Realize Your Ideas schedule, rehearsals, etc. Presentations to learn and fine-tune combined with the tour and travel took me away from the computer (and from all of you!).
We had a few mishaps with the first hotel (Sheraton World Resort in Orlando, FL)...I must admit we will probably strike it from our future hotel list (although it looked great on paper!). After taking an excruciating 45 minutes to check into the hotel and finally get to a room - a couple of hours later they kindly also gave my room to one of my coworkers - was that ever a surprise! Poor guy was so embarassed when he walked into the room and saw me standing there...I'll leave his name out so as not to embarass him (Jimmy Scott).
All went well for the mainstage presentations the next day, but shortly after everyone left the room it started to rain in the room...which would have almost made sense if it was raining outside! Since my AutoCAD presentation was to be in the same room the hotel placed buckets around and taped off a few rows with caution tape - it looked like a CSI crime scene! It's probably better we just not know where that water was coming from...The stage we used was so uneven I regularly tripped during my presentations - we even made a game out of it, had the audience join in counting everytime I tripped again...These are just a few of the mishaps from the hotel that ocurred - so I think you can see why we would hesitate to use them again! All that really matters is that the attendees had a great experience according to their fabulous feedback.
Houston was a great event as well (no rain inside of the ballroom!) - we had a day in between the two events to breathe and regroup, but that wizzed by as we continued to fine-tune the presentations and make various adjustments based on what we learned in Orlando. The team enjoyed a great Mexican food dinner the night before the Houston event which was very helpful to our morale (and I love Mexican food!). A good time was had by all.
If you find you don't hear from me for a couple of days - be sure to visit our Realize Your Ideas blog where you can hear some podcasts of the event (I'll be hanging out on that blog during the tour)...Realize Your Ideas Tour Blog. Stay Tuned!
