I cannot lie - I'm enjoying spending more time at home! I have successfully reminded my dog who I am - and she's no longer holding on to me for dear life whenever I leave (good sign!). Rumor has it I'm moving to another office soon so I'll need to pack up the old (good thing I'm in town!).
Note: I do realize there is no such place as "AutoCADland"
Why would you want to turn a Spline into a Polyline? Well - you can do things to polylines that you just can't do to a spline (for example, change the width). I've been asked many times for this feature by Landscape Architects and Civil Engineers - so the need clearly exists.
You can convert a spline to a polyline in the SPLINEDIT command or the PEDIT command. Either way - you'll barely notice the difference when you convert it (depening on the precision you set of course).
I received an additional tip from Sona Greenberg (a Landscape Architect).
"Use the Express Tool FLATTEN. The one thing I really like about using FLATTEN is that you get actual arcs in there, not just lots of little straight lines."
Thank you so much for sharing Sona - great tip!
and now I'm off to pack up my office (if I'm not packing a suitcase - I'm packing up an office) Sigh.
Of course there will still be a smattering of AutoCAD 2012 presentations throughout the year (including at Autodesk University) but for now - the AutoCAD 2012 launch events are officially over! (at least the ones I am involved in). I have thoroughly enjoyed showing off the new features in AutoCAD 2012 - especially since it has so many crowd pleasers in it - as well as showing the new Autodesk Design Suites. If you missed my AutoCAD 2012 presentation - you can check out a video version of it online.
Along the way I met up with many great users - but I just had to share a picture taken last week with three wonderful women from an Ideate event in San Jose! These ladies were so enthusiastic and it was a pleasure to meet them.
Above we have from the left: Bi (extra enthusiastic!), Jane, myself, and Kim. They were all just fantastic and I'm thrilled I got to meet them.
Now I get a little time at home (hoorah!) - and a little time to remind my dog who I am again. The first day back she was clearly clingy as she didn't leave my side - even while I was working.
Above is Tiffany - also known to my Tweeps as WFD (white fluffy dog).
So you can expect more blog postings now that I'm home for awhile! Lucky you! :-)
So my AutoCAD 2012 whirlwind tour is finally over! I had a fantastic time showing off the new features in AutoCAD 2012 - definitely some crowd pleasers in this release! If you weren't able to join me - you might want to check out the "hot-off-the-press" AutoCAD 2012 Overview video that covers most of the key features inside of AutoCAD 2012 (featuring Yours Truly).
